Kryssia Canales

I was born and raised in El Salvador and started my journey with individuals with disabilities after graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Child Psychology from San Francisco State University back in 2019 — and I immediately fell in love with it. Soon after, with encouragement from my community and an eagerness to engage on a deeper level with my clients, I pursued my Master's degree in Behavior Analysis from National University in San Diego.

I'm dedicated to teaching — students, clients, and staff alike — and I believe learning should be meaningful and enjoyable. I believe each individual should be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. I care deeply about inclusion, communication, and ensuring that every person's voice is heard. My work is most fulfilling when I'm building awareness, promoting independence, and helping others access the support they need. I especially enjoy teaching social skills and self-regulation skills, where I incorporate principles of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

In the wintertime, you can find me snowboarding down the mountains; in the summertime, hiking and camping with my dog Dante; and year-round, I enjoy doing pottery. I'm eager to continue learning from those same individuals I'm committed to helping succeed.
